Rural guesthouse La Bordalla close to Jimena de la Frontera

The guesthouse is situated within a beautiful countryside, surrounded by mountains, in the nature reserve Los Alcornocales, Jimena de la Frontera, Cádiz, and can be reached within about 30 minutes by car coming from Gibraltar or the beaches of Sotogrande. Here runs the Hozgarganta river and in the distance passes the traditional railway train to Ronda.

You will find a rambling, natural garden with pool and 100-year old trees. You can go horse-riding on ancient Roman streets, hiking, mountain biking or simply enjoy relaxed reading surrounded by unparalleled and unspoilt nature.

The establishment consists of 7 bedroom suites. For your pleasure and comfort these are fully equipped with plasma-TV, WIFI and massage showers. Every bedroom has its own personality and individual style.

Furthermore, there is a spacious dining room, a living room with various cozy areas and a big fireplace, which invites you to dwell for social get-togethers, a rambling garden with pool and a terrace offering a beautiful view of the Sierra de Los Melones as well as El Sanguinar, where you can watch wild birds in their natural habitat.

The Los Alcornocales Nature Park covers an area of 170,000 hectar and is the third largest protected natural area in Andalusia. It is located at the western end of the Cordillera Betica in the province of Cadiz, except for the northeastern part, which belongs to the province of Malaga.

Jimena de la Frontera is three thousand years old, and during the Roman epoch, the great-grandfather of the emperor Mark Anthony was born here. The town’s decline came with the Visigoths and Byzantines.

Information on the period of the Muslim rule is scarce. The earliest records date back to 1059, explicitly referring to Jimena as a member of the kingdom of Seville.The Arabs named it Ximena. For two centuries it was an important enclave border, first of Nazarian and later of Christian origin, the latter conquered it in 1456.
